Once again, Quader besieged in protests
Deprived of posts, a section of Bangladesh Chhatra League activists today, once again, surrounded their party’s General Secretary Obaidul Quader and protested on his face.
The protests ensued from yesterday, hours after Quader dismissed last night’s ruckus as a “jubilant rally of the activists cheering the new sub-committee of Awami League”.
This evening, the protestors surrounded the vehicle of Quader as soon as he reached party president Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office around 7:30pm.
At one point, Quader got down from the car and met some former student leaders. At the end of the meet he sought three months to make fresh inclusions into the sub-committees.
Last reported at 8:30pm, the protests were underway throughout Dhanmondi 3/A road.
Yesterday, they were cheering: Quader
This afternoon, Quader termed yesterday’s protests near the office as “jubilant celebration”.
“It was not a protest rally, rather a jubilant one brought by former Chhatra League leaders based on assurance to be included in the sub-committees,” Quader told reporters.
Several newspapers and media houses reported yesterday’s protests at Dhanmondi 3/A, saying Quader was kept confined inside the office for half-an-hour.
Quader today termed those newspaper reports “untrue” and said he was “hurt” by the publication of such reports.
