4 die in Sylhet road crash while returning from Ijtema
Four people were killed and 10 injured when a bus carrying people returning from Biswa Ijtema collided with a truck in Dakshin Surma upazila of Sylhet this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Abu Bakkar, 50, Akbar Ali, 50 and Abduj Jafur, 45, of Noagaon village and Abdul Khaleq, a member of Kathoir union parishad, of Sunamganj Sadar upazila.
All the deceased were passengers of the bus, reports our Sylhet correspondent quoting Khairul Fazal, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dakshin Surma Police Station.
The Sylhet-bound bus with 30 passengers on board hit a Dhaka-bound truck on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shatmail area around 7:00am due to poor visibility caused by fog, the OC said.
The passengers of the bus were returning after joining Akheri Munajat of Biswa Ijtema held at Tongi in Dhaka that ended yesterday, the OC added.
On information, Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital with the help of the locals.
