Vidya, Irrfan win best actor at Filmfare

Vidya Balan and Irrfan Khan won the best actress and actor awards respectively for their performance in Hindi feature films “Tumhari Sulu”, which tells the story of a housewife working as a radio jockey, and “Hindi Medium” -- at the 63rd edition of the Filmfare awards on Saturday night.

Rajkumar Rao bagged two awards -- best actor in a supporting role (male) for “Bareilly Ki Barfi” and Critics' Award for best actor (male) for “Trapped”. Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari won the best director award for “Bareilly Ki Barfi”.

Meher Vij won the best actor in a supporting role for “Secret Superstar” while Zaira Wasim won the Critics' Award for best actor (female) for the same film.

Konkona Sen Sharma won the best debut director award for “A Death in The Gunj”. She received the award from veteran actresses Jaya Bachchan and Sonali Bendre.

The best playback singer (male) award went to Arijit Singh for the “Badrinath ki Dulhaniya” song “Roke Na Ruke Naina” and Meghna Mishra won the best playback singer (female) award for the number “Nachdi Phira” in “Secret Superstar”.

Veteran music director Bappi Lahiri was conferred the Lifetime Achievement award.

The award-giving ceremony was hosted once again in Mumbai by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Karan Johar, in which Hindi cinema celebrities came together and walked the red carpet. Actors Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra and others entertained the audiences with their spectacular dance performances.
