Tiger beaten dead in Bagerhat

A Bengal Tiger that entered a village in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat was beaten to death by the villagers this morning.

Five people of Gulishakhali village were also injured after the tiger bit them, our Bagerhat correspondent reports quoting Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of East Sundarbans Md Mahmudul Hasan.

The injured have been given primary treatment at a local hospital while one of them was referred to Khulna Medical College Hospital in critical condition, Mahmudul said. 

The divisional forest officer is on the way to the spot, the correspondent reported around noon.

Tigers are the largest members of the cat family and are renowned for their power and strength. The Bengal Tigers are listed as Endangered by the IUCN Red List.
