MPO teachers to boycott classes again from tomorrow
MPO-enlisted secondary and higher secondary teachers from private educational institutions will again start boycotting classes from tomorrow and continue for two days.
They refrained from attending the classes but took the decision again today, GM Shawon, joint convener of Besarkari Shikkha Jatiyakaran Liaison Forum, told The Daily Star.
The teachers earlier boycotted classes for four days since January 15 at the Jatiya Press Club demanding nationalisation of their institutions.
Meanwhile, the ongoing hunger strike enforced by the teachers demanding the same rolled into the 12th day today.
“Today is the 12th day of our hunger strike but still there is no response from the government regarding our demand. So we have decided to refrain from classes for the next two days -- Saturday and Sunday,” said Shawon.
At least 147 teachers fell sick so far and 40 of them were hospitalised.
Several political leaders and organisations have so far expressed solidarity with the teachers, he said.
