BNP’s national executive committee meeting Feb 3
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has called her party's National Executive Committee meeting on February 3 to device its plan ahead of the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case verdict scheduled to be delivered on February 8.
"Around 502 members of the committee will discuss in the meeting about what steps should be taken if the verdict in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case goes against Khaleda," a party insider told The Daily Star this evening.
The meeting, with Khaleda Zia on the chair, will begin in the morning on that day but the venue has not been finalised yet, said Sayrul Kabir Khan, a staff of the BNP chairperson’s media wing.
BNP held its immediate past national council in March 2016 and formed the national executive committee with 502 members.
According to the party's charter, holding at least one meeting of its national executive committee every six months is mandatory, but the party is going to hold its first meeting of the committee around two years after its national council.
Meanwhile, Khaleda Zia held a meeting with BNP’s standing committee members, the highest policy making body of the party, last night and discussed the country's latest political situation and the last development of the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
The former prime minister also held a meeting with the leaders of BNP-led alliance at her Gulshan office tonight.
