Indonesian President Joko Widodo wrapped up his two-day state visit this morning seeking stronger ties with Bangladesh and extending supports to Rohingyas for their safe return.

A special flight, carrying him and his entourage, departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital around 9:00am, a senior official of Foreign Ministry told UNB.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali saw him off at the airport.

During his visit, Bangladesh and Indonesia yesterday signed five instruments, including two memorandums of understanding (MoUs), aiming to enhance bilateral relations, trade and investment, and boosting cooperation in different sectors between the two countries.

Joko Widodo arrived here Saturday afternoon and he was received by his Bangladesh counterpart Abdul Hamid and his wife first lady Rashida Khanam.

Indonesia to keep standing by Rohingyas

The Indonesian president visited Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar district yesterday afternoon.

He had meetings with President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali also called on the visiting president.

President Widodo paid homage at the National Mausoleum in Savar in memory of the martyrs of the 1971 War of Liberation yesterday morning.

Following this, the president paid tribute to the memory of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.

President Abdul Hamid hosted dinner in honour of his Indonesian counterpart at Bangabhaban on Saturday evening.
