Roshen keeps Sri Lanka in strong position
Roshen Silva, playing in just his second Test match allows Sri Lanka to stretch their strong reply despite the fall of Kusal Mendis and De Silva.
The Mendis-Silva duo had put on 308 for the second-wicket – third highest second-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka in Test cricket. Mustafizur Rahman removed De Silva while Mendis left following a fantastic catch by Mushfiqur Rahim. However, their departure did not hamper Sri Lanka's course as Rosen kept things calm and simple for Sri Lanka as they reduced the deficit down to just nine runs at stumps on Day 3.
Captain Dinesh Chandimal at the other end on a 90-ball 37 and the Lankans will be looking forward to overhaul Tigers' score and take a lead in this first Test. Mendis missed his double century by just four runs when trying to hit Taijul Islam against the spin in the 105th over. Tigers bowlers toiled hard today but only managed two wickets as Sri Lanka put on another 317 runs on the board.
Mendis falls on 196 as Mushy takes stunning catch
SL 416/3 after 106 overs, Roshen 37*, Chandimal 0*, tea on Day 3
Mushfiqur Rahim takes a blinder of a catch, running in from mid-on to remove Kusal Mendis off the bowling of Taijul Islam.
Throughout his innings, Mendis had looked to put the bowlers under pressure ahead of a break in play. Be it before a drinks break, lunch or tea. His decision to take certain risks had paid off, but with the double hundred just one boundary away, Kusal came charging down the track to hit Taijul over mid-wicket but miscued the shot trying to play against the spin. Mendis leaves after scoring 196 as Sri Lanka go to tea at 416 for the loss of three, trailing Bangladesh by 97 runs.

Fizz makes the breakthrough following 308-run partnership
SL 308/2 in over 83, Mendis 133*, Roshen 0*, Day 3
The new ball has worked wonders as Mustafizur Rahman removes De Silva with an angled short delivery to break the 308-run stand.
Two overs into the second session, Mustafizur was handed the new ball. De Silva's innings had been an incredible one as his composure made the Tigers toil and suffer. Having watched the first four balls of Fizz's over closely, De Silva eventually played a false shot on the fifth delivery of the 83rd over as he tried to pull away an angled short delivery from the bowler.
Sri Lanka went to lunch on Day 3 at 295 for the loss of one wicket and trailing Bangladesh by 218 runs.

Mendis strikes ton as well
SL 245/1, over 63, Day 3
Kusal Mendis, who had the rub of the green on Day 2 of the first Test, goes on to strike his fourth Test hundred on his birthday.
Mendis did not have the most convincing display unlike his partner De Silva at the other end, who was rock solid. Mendis was dropped on just four runs during the fifth over of the Lankan innings -- a difficult chance for Mehedi Hasan, who also saw Mendis dropped off his own bowling in the 31st over of the Lankan innings. Early on Day 3, Mustafizur Rahman found the edge of the right-hander's bat in the 51st over but the ball split the first and second slip and ran away for four.
The right-hander reached his hundred in 200 balls with 10 fours and a six.
