Cox’s Bazar AL leader found dead

- Victim was a freedom fighter

- Body found in Pekua upazila

An upazila unit president of Awami League was found dead in Pekua upazila of Cox’s Bazar this morning.

Police recovered the body of AKM Shahbuddin, 74, AL president of Pekua upazila unit, in a remote hilly area at Battali in the upazila around 8:00am, said Masud Alam, assistant superintendent of police (Chakaria circle).

Shahbuddin, a resident of West Sonaichhari village, was a freedom fighter, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting the police official.

“Forty percent of the body was burnt,” Alam said adding, the body has been sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Local AL leaders claimed that Shahbuddin was killed in a planned way.
