BNP’s women wing Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal President Afroza Abbas and its Secretary General Sultana Ahmed today secured eight-week anticipatory bail from the High Court (HC) in three violence cases.

The HC also asked the two leaders to surrender before the lower court concerned after their bail period expires.

The bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Krishna Debnath passed the order after hearing three separate petitions filed by Afroza and Sultana seeking bail in the cases.

The cases were filed with Ramna Police Station on charges of preventing police from discharging their duties during an agitation enforced by BNP-led alliance on February 8 when a Dhaka court sentenced BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to five years’ imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
