2 held over alleged rape in Jessore

A housewife has allegedly been gang raped after she was picked up from her house in Abhaynagar upazila of Jessore.

The woman, aged around 45, was alone in the house around 10:00pm on Friday when the alleged rapists attacked her, police said.  

Police arrested two persons in connection with the incident. They are Zahidul Islam alias Zahid Sheikh, who was once an employer of the woman, and his friend Sohag Morol.

Quoting the woman, Sheikh Gani Mia, officer-in-charge of Abhaynagar Police Station, said Zahid and four to five of his accomplices allegedly picked her up from her house and took her to a nearly bamboo forest where they gang raped her.

The OC suspected that Zahid might have done it to take revenge as the woman's son had allegedly had relations with his wife when the alleged victim worked as a maid at Zahid's house. The woman, however, denied that her son had any relationship with Zahid's wife.

A case was filed against the two accused yesterday with Abhaynagar Police Station.
