Software expo begins tomorrow
The four-day BASIS SoftExpo 2018 kicks off tomorrow with the slogan “Designing the Future”, promising to be the country's largest exposition of software and ICT enabled services (ITES) bringing together companies, experts, policymakers and industry leaders.
Local enterprises have pinned hope on the annual event's 12th edition, seeking to generate a substantial amount of business showcasing innovative products before prospective buyers, including those from abroad.
Over 200 companies, including European and Singaporean ones, would attend about 50 business-to-business matchmaking sessions in the showcase, Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), the organiser, said in a statement yesterday.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith is scheduled to inaugurate the event at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in presence of Posts, Telecom and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar.
There will be individual zones focusing on software, mobile innovation, digital commerce, ITES, business process outsourcing along with innovation, a section where students will showcase projects on two robots with artificial intelligence – BongoBir and Bangro.
BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir expressed hope saying the show would help local IT companies expand their businesses.
The event's Convener Mosatafizur Rahaman Sohel said through this exposition, local ICT companies can showcase their products in the international arena.
BASIS has a students' forum, members of which will be presenting their innovative projects giving a clear understanding of Bangladesh's ever-growing ICT sector, said Sohel.
