On his Pakistan Super League debut, Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman was the standout bowler for Lahore Qalandars in their match against Multan Sultans at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday night.
The night however belonged to Multan's fast bowler Junaid Khan, who took a hattrick to snuff out the Qalandars' chase of 180 and deliver a thumping 44-run win. left-arm pacer Junaid got the wickets of Yasir Shah, Chris Delport and Raza Hasan off successive deliveries in the 17 th over to cut down Lahore from 136 for six to 136 for nine, and in the second ball of the next overImran Tahir ended the innings on the same score by getting the wicket of Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Earlier, Mustafizur was the only bowler to concede less than six runs an over in the Sultans' innings of 179 for five, and took the wickets of Ahmed Shehzad and Sri Lanka batting legend Kumar Sangakkara to finish with figures of two for 22 from four overs.
Mustafizur was brought on in the fifth over and conceded six runs, including a four hit by Shehzad. Returning in the 11th over, he hurried Shehzad through the pull and had him caught down the leg side by the wicketkeeper for 38.
Though hit for a six by Sangakkara in the second ball of the 17th over, the Fizz had his revenge when Sangakkara was late on a surprise bouncer and was caught at long on for a 44-ball 63.
To finish a brilliant outing, Mustafizur conceded just three runs in his last over, the 19th of the innings.
