Naomi Scott to play Pink Ranger in “Power Rangers”
Following roles in “The Martian” and Chilean miners drama “The 33”, Naomi Scott has signed on to fight evil alien magic users as the Pink Ranger in the upcoming “Power Rangers” reboot movie.
The production revealed the casting on its official Twitter and Instagram accounts.
The story reimagines the origins of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high school kids given extraterrestrial powers who unite to save the world. The 1993 Fox Kids TV series became a pop culture phenomenon and inspired a big-screen adaptation, “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie,” in 1995.
Dean Israelite is directing the Lionsgate movie. The studio is currently testing young talent, looking at up-and-coming actors and actresses to make up the team.
Lionsgate and Saban Brands announced plans last year to develop and produce a live-action movie based on Saban's Power Rangers property as the first film in a franchise.
“Power Rangers” is set to hit theaters in, 2017.
