Kohli, Dhoni out, Sharma to lead India against Bangladesh, SL
India captain Virat Kohli, who earlier missed the final T20 against the Proteas is rested for the Nidahas Trophy T20I tri-series as Rohit Sharma will take over the reigns of the side for the tournament that features Bangladesh and hosts Sri Lanka.
Rohit Sharma will lead the 15-member Indian team for the tournament which begins on March 6.
According to Times of India, Kohli, along with Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Hardhik Pandeya were given a much-needed break as BCCI considered the workload of the upcoming schedule.
India will face Sri Lanka in the opening match of the series before they play Bangladesh on March 8.
Besides Kohli and Dhoni, fast bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and spinner Kuldeep Yadav were also excluded from the squad.
