Road crash on Mayor Hanif flyover kills 2 motorcyclists

Two motorcyclists were killed when their motorbike skidded off the road while approaching Mayor Mohammad Hanif flyover at Dholaipar point in the old part of Dhaka early today.

The deceased were identified as Mehedi Hasan Rifat, 19, a class XI student of BAF Shaheen College of Dhaka, and Jahangir Hossain, 20.

One of their friend, Rabbi, and a local security guard, Anisur Rahman, were also injured in the accident, Mafiz Uddin, a sub-inspector of Jatrabari Police Station, told The Daily Star.

The accident took place around 5:30am when Rifat, Jahangir and Rabbi along with some other friends, who were on several other motorcycles, were returning from Mawa in Munshiganj, the police official said.

Jahangir succumbed to his injuries at Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital while Mehedi died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Anisur, the security guard of the Hanif flyover, was injured as the motorcycle hit him when it was skidding off the road.

Rabbi and Anisur were undergoing treatment at the DMCH, added the SI.
