PM releases commemorative postage stamps

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today released a commemorative postage stamp, a first-day cover and a data card, marking the 48th Independence Day.

She also released another commemorative postage stamp, a first-day cover and a data card to celebrate the recognition of the historic 7th March Speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by Unesco as part of the world's documentary heritage.

She released the stamps and the first-day covers of Tk 10 each and the data cards of Tk 5 each at her official residence Ganobhaban in the afternoon. Two special cancellers were used on the occasion.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar, Posts and Telecommunications Secretary Shyam Sundar Sikdar and Director General of Bangladesh Post Office Sushanta Kumar Mondal were present on the occasion, among others.

The stamps, first-day covers and data cards would be sold from Philatelic Bureau of Dhaka GPO from today (Monday) and those would be available at other GPOs and head post offices across the country later.

There is also an arrangement for special cancellers in four GPOs to be used for the first-day covers.
