Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Dhaka University unit have declared one of their teachers unwanted on the campus for allegedly distorting history and making derogatory remarks on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The BCL leaders claimed that Professor Morshed Hasan Khan of marketing department made ‘derogatory remarks’on Bangabandhu and distorted history in his article titled “Jyotirmoy Zia” published in a national daily on March 25.

They brought out a protest procession from the Madhur Canteen which paraded different streets of the campus before ending at the faculty of Business Studies where they held a brief rally.

Addressing the rally, BCL central unit general secretary SM Jakir Hossain said the Liberation War started with Bangabandhu’s speech and the independence was achieved under his leadership.

“Because of the audacity he showed by making such comment, we believe that university authorities will take proper steps against him,” said Jakir.

He also called upon Prof Morshed to resign from his post.

The pro-Awami League student body also decided to submit a memorandum with the vice-chancellor tomorrow if the university authorities do not take any action against him.

Meanwhile, Prof Morshed gave a Facebook post seeking apology if anyone was hurt by his writing.

In his article, published marking the Genocide Day, Prof Moshed Khan mentioned Ziaur Rahman as “the declarer of independence” and claimed most of the AL leaders including Sheikh Mujibur Rahman left the countryduring the liberation war, keeping the countrymen into trouble.
