Show cause for Khaleda’s absence: Comilla trial court
A Comilla court that was expecting BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s appearance in an arson case has issued a show cause on authorities seeking explanation for her absence.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Kazi Arafat issued the show cause on jail authorities today. Khaleda, after landing in jail for graft, was shown arrested in the case back on March 13.
Dhaka prison authorities have been asked to come forward with the explanation within the next seven days, our local correspondent reports quoting defence counsel Kaimul Haque.
The case implicates Khaleda as an instigator of the arson attack that killed seven passengers of a bus and left 25-30 others injured in Chauddagram, Comilla, back in February 3, 2015.
Meanwhile, it has already been reported that BNP chief Khaleda is ill; a reason that kept her from appearing before another trial court in Dhaka in connection to another graft case.
