Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today criticised BNP as it raised voice against her electoral campaign ahead of the next general election and said seeking vote from people is her political right.

"Seeking vote for "Boat" is my political right. I'm the chief of a political party and I'll do that wherever I will go," said Sheikh Hasina, also president of the ruling Awami League (AL).

The prime minister said this while addressing a meeting of the Awami League Central Working Committee at her official residence Gono Bhaban in Dhaka this evening.

As part of her electoral campaign, the premier has been visiting different places throughout the country and seeking vote for “Boat”, the electoral symbol of AL, ahead of the next parliamentary election.

Recently, several BNP leaders including its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and its Standing Committee Member Moudud Ahmed have criticised the prime minister saying that Hasina is using state mechanism and money for her election campaign.

Trashing the allegation, Hasina said people of the country achieved independence, their mother language and development in rural areas after casting votes for “Boat”.

"In this context, we will have to convince people so that they cast vote for Boat for the sake of continuation of the country's development," she said.
