Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today said the government is trying to identify the people who are behind spreading fake news of a protester's death during the quota reform movement and legal action will be taken against them.

Talking to the reporters at the secretariat, the home minister said, "We are trying to identify the perpetrators who were agitating the demonstrators by spreading fake news of a protester's death in police firing on social media Facebook."

Case under Digital Security Act will be filed against them, he added.

Replying to a query of journalists about Gonojagoron Mancha convener Imran H Sarkar, Asaduzzaman said, "Not only Imran H Sarkar, others who were with him in spreading the news will be identified".

The boy whose death news was spread through the Facebook, later, he himself published a post stating that "I'm not dead".

Referring the agitators who were involved with the attack and vandalised the Dhaka University vice-chancellor's house, the minister said the video footage of the incident has been scrutinised and case will be filed against the attackers.

"The Detective Branch along with other law enforcers are working to spot the attackers. They are also trying to find out whether any political leaders are involved with the attack or not", he added.

Replying to a question about Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men, he said that Chhatra League leaders have never been involved in any kind of violence, and miscreants are spreading the misleading news about BCL.
