Shakil bags silver after Baki in Commonwealth Games
After Abdullah Hel Baki, SA Games gold medalist shooter Shakil Ahmed bagged silver medal in 50m Air pistol event of Commonwealth Games at Belmont Shooting Center in Brisbane, Australia this morning.
Shakil, who qualified for the final as the fourth shooter with a score of 545, scored 220.5 in the final to win the silver medal. Australian Daniel Repacholi won the gold medal with a score of 227.2 while bronze medal went to Indian Om Mitharval, who scored 201.1.
It was Bangladesh's second medal in the ongoing Commonwealth Games.
Though the 10m Air pistol event is one of Shakil's favovourite but the 23-year old shooter produced a disappointing performance in his pet event on Monday, finishing sixth before bouncing back strongly in 50m air pistol.
Khulna-born Shakil won gold medal in the same event in 2016 SA Games in Assam with a score of 187.6.
