IUB hosts conference on accountability in Bangladesh

A daylong conference on "Accountability in Bangladesh: Issues & Debates" was held at the Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) on March 29, 2018 at the university campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. The conference was organized by "Global Studies and Governance" programme of the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (SLASS) at IUB.

The objectives of the Conference were two-fold, a. to identify the areas of accountability of different sectors, segments, and clusters in Bangladesh, and b. recommend and utilise the findings and outcomes of the conference to ensure quality higher education, good governance, individual responsibilities, humanity, integrities, economic, social and environmental advancement, decent and effective media performances and health and societal prosperity in Bangladesh.

VC of IUB, Prof. M. Omar Rahman opened the activities as chief guest. Prof. Imtiaz A. Hussain, Head of Global Studies and Governance programme at IUB made a thematic presentation during inaugural session. Pro-VC Prof. Milan Pagon and Deans of SLASS and School of Business also spoke on the occasion.

Throughout the day, 11 working and fruitful plenary sessions were held to clinch the objectives of the conference. In total, 34 four highly credible papers were presented while country's renowned educationist, scholars, policymakers, civil society leaders, media experts and professional specialists took part in presenting papers and discussing on various topics and issues.
