Watermelons from across the country arrive in boats at Waiz Ghat on the Buriganga in the capital. The summer fruit is in season now and it is flooding the city markets. A number of consumers said the prices are still higher than they had hoped.
Every Saturday, the Jeti Ghat Bazar area in Kaptai upazila livens up. Rows of boats filled with seasonal fruits dock along the bank of Kaptai Lake, while traders unload the delicacies to take them to the nearby market for selling. They come to the bazaar from various parts of Rangamati district. The traders also buy essentials for themselves before returning home.
