BNP’s Aman gets SC bail, ‘no bar to release’
The Supreme Court today upheld High Court bail orders for BNP leader Amanullah Aman in nine violence cases, “paving way for his release from jail”.
Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, chamber judge of the apex court, passed “no order” on nine pleas moved by the government seeking stay on the bails.
Aman’s lawyer Sagir Hossain Leon told The Daily Star now there is no legal bar to his client’s release from prison following the Supreme Court order.
Amanullah Aman, who is accused in total 69 cases, got bail from the lower court and the High Court in all the cases, the lawyer said.
All those cases were filed during the anti-government movement of the BNP-headed 20-party throughout the start of this year, Leon said.
