BNP leader ‘assaulted inside party office’
A BNP leader was allegedly assaulted inside the party’s Naya Paltan headquarters in Dhaka today.
The leader, BNP’s assistant Organising Secretary Tafiul Islam Tipu, took local treatments. Bruises could be seen on his back and ears.
A group of about 12 assailants entered the office and started beating me, he told The Daily Star. “I could not identify anyone of them.”
A party insider sought anonymity and said the incident took place around 11:00am. “They punched and kicked him indiscriminately and left in a hurry”.
BNP spokesman Asaduzzaman Ripon criticised the “attack” in a statement and expressed concern over repeated attacks on their leaders inside the party office.
He demanded to the law enforcers to find out the culprits and give them exemplary punishment.
Earlier in June, another BNP assistant Organizing Secretary Abdus Salam came under similar assault inside the BNP’s central office.
