Agrani Bank official Ibrahim Hossain wails after his daughter -- six-year-old Suraia Tasnim Prapti -- was killed in a road accident in Bogra's Saujgari area yesterday. Accompanied by her mother Sabiha, Prapti was returning home from school on a battery-run auto rickshaw around 11:00am. The vehicle, however, turned turtle on being hit by another auto rickshaw from behind. Both mother and daughter fell off and the vehicle smashed some parts of Prapti's head against the road. The child was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead. Inset, Prapti's school ID. Photo: Star
Students of Dhaka University under the banner of “Students against Repression” form a human chain demanding safety and stability on the campus. They condemned the recent wave of unrest that followed the quota reform movement. A series of violent incidents took place during the movement including vandalism on the vice-chancellor's residence, student-police clash, harassment of protesters, and torture of female students in a residential hall. Since then unease has been prevailing on the campus. The photo was taken in front of the Raju sculpture yesterday. Photo: Star
