There have been clamours among Bangladesh cricket fans that Bangladesh's inspirational ODI Captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza should make a comeback to the T20I circuit. The cricketer himself earlier hinted that he would like to return to Test Cricket.

During the Nidahas Trophy, Bangladesh Cricket Board even approached the paceman to make a return to the T20 side. However, Mashrafe stood firm on his decision to stay retired from T20Is and did not give in to the whims of the board.

In February this year, BCB president Nazmul Hassan suggested that Mashrafe had his eyes on Test cricket rather than T20.

"I have asked him to return in the two-match T20I series against Sri Lanka but nothing forcefully, while he said that he wants to play Test cricket but not T20. So the matter did not roll further," Hassan informed back then.

This time around, BCB's chief selector Minhajul Abedin has said that the Test door open for Mashrafe but his services are more needed in T20 format.

"The matter is wholly upto him and BCB. We will do as instructed. If Mashrafe wants to play Tests then he will. But we want him return to the T20 fold. He is much more required there," Minhajul said.

"When a player retires from a certain format then we have to move forward without thinking of him. But still if he wants to return then his performance will be evaluated before we decide," Minhajul concluded.
