Crossy Road is similar to Flappy Bird, the classic arcade game Frogger and has cute 3D style graphics like Minecraft. You have to tap the screen and get your character *cough*chicken*cough* to cross a path riddled with deadly obstacles - moving cars, rivers and the occasional speedy train. It's virtually endless; keep going till you meet a gruesome death and see how high your score is. 

The controls are extremely simple: tap to go forward, swipe left and right to manoeuvre between obstacles or go backwards. You get one point for each step forward and if you stay still for too long - a random eagle snatches your character away or coloured squares cover up the screen and the game is over. As you progress the difficulty increases - vehicles get faster and roads get wider. The most interesting aspect of the game is the diversity of over 100 characters starting from the classic chicken to things like Frankenstein, Dracula (can shape-shift into a bat), PSY and even Pac-Man. The backgrounds differ depending on the characters so you have a Pac-Man mode for Pac-Man.

You can collect coins which appear on the roads and use these to unlock new characters, most can be obtained using game currency but if you're too impatient you can always buy them with in-app purchases. Fortunately there are no life limits like in Candy Crush; perfect for a game as addictive as this one.
