Mymensingh Razakar gets death for war crimes
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today sentenced Riaz Uddin Fakir of Mymensingh to death for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.
A three-member bench of ICT led by Justice Md Shahinur Islam pronounced the verdict.
Earlier on Wednesday, the ICT set Thursday for delivering the judgment against the Mymensingh war crimes accused Riaz Uddin Fakir.
On March 21, the ICT concluded the arguments of the war crime case and kept the verdict to deliver any day against Riaz Uddin Fakir for his alleged crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
Riaz Uddin Fakir was arrested on August 11 in 2015 and since then he remained in the bar.
Two other accused of the case - Hazi Amzad Ali, earlier died in police custody and Waz Uddin Fakir died while he was absconding.
Prosecutor Rhishikesh Saha said Riaz Uddin who was then chief of Al-Badr Bahini faces charges of murder, mass killing, arson attack and looting in Phulbari upazila in the district during the War of Independence in 1971.
A total of 19 witnesses testified against the suspect and all four allegations against Riaz Uddin were proved, he said.
