12 killed in India dust storm
At least 12 people were killed as a dust storm and thunder shower hit parts of northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh last night, a senior official said today.
"Four deaths were reported from Etawah, three from Mathura, one death each from Agra, Aligarh, Firozabad and Kanpur," Principal Secretary Information Avanish Awasthi said.
One more person died at Hathras during the storm, our New Delhi correspondent reports quoting police.
Thunderstorms and lightning on May 2,3 killed at least 134 people and injured more than 400 in five Indian states, according to the Indian Home Ministry.
Uttar Pradesh was the hardest hit with 80 deaths, most of them in Agra district.
