Credible polls cannot be held under present govt: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said no credible election can be held under the present government and that has been proved through Khulna City Corporation polls.
"No election will be allowed to be held except Khaleda Zia's release from jail. No election can be held in a transparent and credible manner under the present government and that has been proven through the Khulna city polls," Fakhrul said.
Fakhrul also termed the Election Commission as “failed and ineligible” and blasted it for its utter failure in arranging the city polls in a free, fair and credible manner.
Claiming that police and the ruling party men have driven out BNP’s polling agents and cast votes for their candidate, Fakhrul called upon the government to dissolve the parliament and hold talks for holding the next general election in a fair manner.
The BNP leader was addressing a post polls press conference at the party Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office in Dhaka.
