No one involved with the drug peddling business will be spared, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader asserted today.

Those who will be found guilty will be brought to book, despite of their social position and status, he told reporters in Narayanganj.

The minister stated the government’s firm position while speaking at a view exchange meeting in Narayanganj on pre-Eid traffic rush, our local correspondent reports.

He said, the menace of yaba spread like “a tsunami” across the country in recent times, for which he blamed Myanmar. “Myanmar has not only sent millions of Rohingyas, but the yaba menance also… the yaba menace has spread like a tsunami in the country.”

“Previously, actions did were taken against many powerful leaders of both rulling and opposition parties, hence, there's no need to think that actions will not be taken against powerful people,” he said.

“Awami League has taken action against this issue. Where as, no other party or leader came forward to fight against yaba in the past,” he added.

“No matter which political party or how popular you are, if you are found involved with the business, legal action will be taken against you,” he said as a stern warning.

He called for unity and social resistence to fight against the narcotics racket.
