Afghanistan win a cliffhanger to clinch series 3-0
In an exciting finish, Afghanistan ran out winners against Bangladesh by just a single run as Shafiqullah's fine fielding effort thwarted an almost certain boundary off the very last delivery in the third T20I at Dehradun.
Afghanistan had posted 145 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets batting first. It was always going to be a difficult task after Tigers slumped to four for 53, losing skipper Shakib Al Hasan in the ninth over. However, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad kept the Tigers' hopes alive with a 84-run fifth wicket partnership as the former struck a 37-ball 46 while the latter remained unbeaten on 38-ball 45. With Bangladesh needing 30 off the last two overs, Mushfiqur hit five fours in succession in the first five deliveries of the 19th over bowled by Karim Janat to bring the Tigers close. Needing 9 runs off the last over, Mushfiqur fell off the first delivery of the last over. Rashid Khan bowled a brilliant last over under pressure but it still needed an amazing boundary-saving effort from Shafiqullah to see Afghans clinch the match after Ariful Haque had managed to whack the final ball of the innings towards the long-on fence with Tigers needing four runs off the last ball.
