BNP searching issue over Khaleda's treatment: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today blamed BNP for searching a political issue in the name of treatment of its Chairperson Khaleda Zia, now in jail in a corruption case.
"We proposed Khaleda Zia to be treated at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH). I am interested to know whether BNP wants treatment of Khaleda Zia or creates an issue," Quader said while talking to reporters at Mohakhali Bus Terminal in Dhaka this noon.
Claiming that CMH is the best hospital in the country which is equipped with latest technology and treatment facilities, Quader said BNP does not want Khaleda Zia's treatment rather it wants to do politics over the issue.
"Is there any better hospital in the country? Why does Khaleda Zia have no confidence in the CMH being a member of an army family?" Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, raised the question.
Khaleda Zia’s personal physicians last week visited her at the Old Central Jail in Dhaka and claimed that the BNP chief might have suffered a mild stroke.
Since then, BNP leaders have been urging the government to admit Khaleda Zia at the United Hospital for treatment, but the government has also been insisting that Khaleda be taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for treatment.
As the BNP expressed lack of confidence in the BSMMU, the government then advised Khaleda Zia to take treatment at the CMH.
