Body in suitcase; father ‘kills kids, hangs self’

A man is believed to have committed suicide after killing his children in Narsingdi. Besides, in Savar, the body of a woman was found in a suitcase.

Kajal Mollah, 35, was found hanging from a tree in Narsingdi’s Raipura upazila. His daughter Kakoli, 8, and son Sohel, 5, were found at the bank of a pond.

Delowar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Raipura Police Station, told our Brahmanbaria correspondent Kajal might have drowned his children and then committed suicide over frustration.

Quoting family, police said Kajal, an auto-rickshaw driver, was cheated two years ago by a broker when he gave him Tk 6.5 lakh for seeking a fortune abroad.

In Savar, the body of a young unidentified woman was found in an abandoned suitcase in Polashbari, Abdul Awal, officer in-charge of Ashulia Police Station, told our correspondent.

Informed by locals, Law enforcers retrieved the suitcase lying beside Nobinagar-Chandra highway around 10:00am. Police suspected that criminals might have strangled her elsewhere and dumped the body there at night.

Meanwhile in Chittagong, another body of a teenager who went missing in the Bay of Bengal was recovered today from Sitakunda upazila.

Nine teenagers came from Narayanganj to visit Sitakunda, Wasi Azad, station officer of Sitakunda Fire Service told our local staff correspondent. They went to take a bath at the sea at Banshbaria beach in the afternoon.

Five of them went deep into the sea and were drowning. Locals managed to rescue three of them, but the other two went missing. Divers rescued the body of one of the boys around 3:00pm today. His identity was not ascertained immediately.
