Election Commission (EC) has introduced Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) at six polling centres in today’s Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) elections.

The EVm was used at six centres including Rani Bilash Moni Government High School.

The voters started gathering around the premises of the polling centre around 8:00am and expressed satisfaction regarding use of the new technology, reports our correspondent from the spot.

Abul Rahim, 50, one of the voters told The Daily Star that he faced no problem while casting his vote and enjoyed the new experience.

“Voters are enthusiastic about the new voting system and so far we have not encountered any technical glitch,” Brig Gen Saidur Rahman, project director told The Daily Star this morning.

Kazim Uddin, 50, a physically challenged voter, also expressed similar concern regarding using the EMV by saying “although it took some time for the machine to recognise my finger print but in the end I was able to cast my vote”.
