A housewife was murdered for 'dowry' in Parbatipur upazila of the district yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Tanjila Khatun Nuri, 26, wife of Mosadder Hossain Munnu, 26, of Jahangirnagar under Parbatipur municipality.

Victim's father Nur Hossain of Kusalpur village in the upazila filed a murder case with Parbatipur Police Station the same day, accusing her husband.

In the case statement, Nur Hossain said Mosadder married his daughter Tanjila a year ago. He used to torture her for dowry.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy, said Mahmudul Alam, officer-in-charge of Parbatipur Police Station.

Police arrested Mosadder.
