Clg teacher gets life term for rape

A college teacher in Lalmonirhat was given life term jail today for raping a student back in 2014.

Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Reza Md Alamgir Hasan convicted Abdul Motaleb, a lecturer at Patgram Government Jasimuddin Abdul Gani College, and handed him the punishment, our local correspondent reports.

Motaleb raped a neighbour college girl in Paschim Bejgram village, Hatibandha upazila, on August 2 in 2014 when her parents were not at home, case statements say.

The victim’s father later lodged a case with Hatibandha Police Station on August 8, 2014 accusing the college teacher. Police pressed charges against Motaleb in the case on August 7 in 2016.

The victim and her family expressed satisfaction over the verdict in the case, said Advocate Akmal Ahmed, public prosecutor of the court.
