6 killed in Moulvibazar road crash
At least six people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a private car in Moulvibazar Sadar upazila this evening, police said.
The accident took place at Nadampur in Manumukh union around 7:50pm, our local correspondent reports quoting Mohammad Shah Jalal, superintendent of police in Moulvibazar.
The deceased were identified as Jahangir Talukder, 38, Fazna Begum, 28, Layek Mia, 22, Nahid Mia, 24, Saif Ahmed, 12, and Shahdat Talukder, 24, while the injured were Yasmin Begum, and Nurunnahar, police said.
Among the deceased, Layek Mia, driver of the auto-rickshaw, and Nahid, a passenger on it, died on the spot.
Six other injured were rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment, where four of them succumbed to their injuries.
On information, police rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and recovered the bodies of the victims, the SP added.
