Pvt Clinics' Strike: Probe opens over use of CMC email

Chittagong Medical College has formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident of using the college email ID for circulating the press release declaring the strike by private clinics and diagnostic centres in Chittagong on Sunday.

The body, led by Prof Ashoke Kumar Dutta, head of medicine department at the CMC, has been asked to submit the report within seven working days, said Prof Selim Muhammad Jahangir, principal of the CMC.

Two other committee members are Prof Mahmudul Haque, of biochemistry department, and Prof Md Hasannuzzaman, of neuromedicine department, he added.

An email was sent to media houses in the name of Dr Abul Kashem, president of Besarkari Chikitsha Protisthan Malik Samity, using the email ID of CMC (cmc@ac.dghs.gov.bd) on Sunday.

Following widespread criticism, the CMC on Monday formed the body to probe the matter.
