Govt to form body to dispose of pending cases: Law minister
The government will form a high-powered district case coordination committee to dispose of all the pending cases across the country, Law Minister Anisul Huq said today.
“There are 34 lakh cases still pending. The committee will play a successful role in disposing of all the pending cases immediately,” Anisul said this after emerging from a meeting with the deputy commissioners at his Secretariat office in Dhaka this afternoon.
About the scope and nature of the committee, the law minister said the committee will comprise of district judges, deputy commissioners and superintendents of police to make the effort a success.
Responding to a query, Anisul said the number of pending cases is going up due to different reasons including absence of witnesses.
“The district case coordination committee will deal with the issue collectively,” he said.
When asked about forming separate court, the minister said his government does not feel any need to form such court to dispose of the pending cases.
