Barapukuria plant to resume operation in Sept: Power secy
Power generation at Barapukuria 525MW coal-fired plant will resume from early September, Power Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus said today.
Besides, Eid holiday of all the officials of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Ltd (BCMCL) has been cancelled to revamp coal mining and hasten the power generation process, he said.
A four-member team comprising of Petrobangla Chairman Abul Mansur Md Faizullah, Power Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, Chairman of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Khalid Hasan and Energy and Mineral Resources Division Secretary Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem today visited the BCMCL in Dinajpur.
On the backdrop of the closure of the plant, BPDB is trying its best to keep the power supply stable across the country, the power secretary said.
Meanwhile, the Petrobangla chairman said everyone of BCMCL should be held accountable if the coal is stolen from the factory and no one can avoid the responsibility.
