BNP alleges of devised polls at 3 cities
Prime opposition BNP has accused the government of devising the Rajshahi, Sylhet and Barisal city corporation elections according to their blueprint.
"Thanks to the loyal Election Commission, the government has achieved its goal," BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed said over the election.
Rizvi came up with numerous allegations of irregularities in the three city polls while briefing journalists at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office.
He brought allegations of grabbing voting centres, kicking out polling agents of the opposition parties and fake voting in all the three city corporations.
BNP agents were driven out of 26 centres in Barisal, five in Sylhet and 17 in Rajshahi, within three hours of the voting, Rizvi alleged citing primary reports.
"We have lodged several complains to the Election Commission but it did not pay any heed. The commission has turned deaf and dumb. The spineless Election Commission and the illegal government are opposite sides of the same coin," he said.
