4 youths remanded in Ctg in ICT Act case

Four youths including two leaders of pro-left Bangladesh Chhatra Federation have been remanded in a case filed under section 57 of ICT Act for activities on the social media.

Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Safi Uddin passed the order after police produced them before the court with 10-day remand plea, said Assistant Commissioner (AC) (Prosecution) Kazi Shahbuddin Ahmed of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP).

The four accused are Maruf Hossain, 23, joint secretary of Chhatra Federation's port city unit, and Aziur Rahman, 20, political study affairs secretary of the organisation, Imdadul Haque Anik, 24, final year student of Applied Physics Department at Chittagong University, and a youth, Abdullah Al Shahed, 20, reports our local staff correspondent.

Earlier, a group of youths arranged a rally in front of Chittagong Press Club on Monday morning demanding safe roads and protesting attacks on students in Dhaka Saturday and Sunday. They called the rally through social media.

Police foiled the protest rally and detained nine youths including the four from the spot.

Later, the four youths out of nine were shown in the ICT case filed by with Kotwali Police Station.
