3 Rohingyas rescued from Teknaf cave
Three Rohingya men, in critical condition, were rescued from a cave in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar yesterday.
All the injured -- Md Anwar 40, Md Khaleque, 23 and Nurul Alam, 45 -- bore cut marks on their throats.
Sub-inspector of Hoakking Police Outpost Dipankar Karmakar said they rescued the men from the cave in a hill at Chakarkul Pariapara in Hoaikkong union at around 9:00am.
Details of the incident were not immediately available.
“It looks like someone tried to murder them. We are not sure of the motive,” the SI said.
He added that a police team led by him, who rescued the men, were helped by locals. The injured men were rushed to Malaysian Field Hospital at Kutupalong in Ukhia and are being treated there.
Injured Khaleque's uncle, Enamul Haque, told local journalists that some people identifying themselves as police officials picked up his nephew and some others the night before yesterday from Balukhali Rohingya shelter centre-1.
Rohingyas claim that there are more of them missing.
Ranjit Kumar Barua, officer in-charge of Teknaf Police Station said, a search operation was underway inside the cave.
