A High Court bench today refused to hear a writ petition filed by BNP leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury challenging the Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) notices that asked him to appear before it for interrogation over graft allegations.

The bench of Justice Borhanuddin and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman also dropped the petition from its hearing list.

The judges did not disclose any reason behind their refusal to hear the petition, ACC lawyer Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan told The Daily Star.

Amir Khasru will have to appear before the ACC following the HC order, the ACC lawyer said adding that there is no legal bar for the commission to quiz him over the corruption allegations.

The BNP leader on September 3 filed the writ petition with the High Court (HC) seeking a stay on the ACC notices, as “those were not issued in accordance with the law”.

On August 16, the anti-graft watchdog in a notice asked BNP leader Amir Khasru to appear before it on August 28 for interrogation over corruption allegations.

On August 28, Amir Khasru sought one month's time from ACC for collecting necessary documents in this regard.

The same day, ACC granted his petition and issued another notice asking him to appear before the commission at 10:00am on September 10.
