Killing orders came from London: Hanif

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today insisted that the instruction for killing the two foreigners in Bangladesh “came from London”.

‘There is no doubt about it,” he said while talking to reporters at AL President’s office in Dhanmondi in the capital, Dhaka.

When the BNP Chairperson left Dhaka for London, where her elder son Tarique Rahman is staying since 2008, the country’s “conscious citizens” had the suspicion that she was going to hatch a conspiracy there, the Awami League leader said.

“Now, the conspiracy has been proved.”

The BNP did not make any reaction to this allegation till filing of this report at 2:30pm.

Hanif alleged that the alliance of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami is carrying out these killings to assume power by creating instability in the country.

Denying the existence of terrorist outfit Islamic State in Bangladesh, he said Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and Harkat-ul Jihd-al-Islam (Huji) are offshoots of BNP and Jamaat.

Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella was gunned down in Dhaka’s diplomatic zone on September 28 while Japanese Kunio Hoshi five days later in Rangpur. SITE Intelligence Group, a US-based organisation monitoring Jihadi activities, reported that IS claimed credit for the killings.  

On October 25, police arrested four persons in connection with Tavella killing, saying that the murder committed on instructions from a “big brother”.
