Samarjit Roy to perform classical music at IGCC
Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre is organising a musical evening by Samarjit Roy at 6:30 pm on October 30 at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, Gulshan-1, Dhaka.
Samarjit Roy has acquired a degree in Indian classical vocal music from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, New Delhi on an ICCR scholarship. He is a disciple of Padma Shri Pt. Madhup Mudgal and Padma Shri Pt. Ajoy Chakravarty.
Roy is the recipient of several awards such as the coveted Pandit D.V. Paluskar Award, Sangeeta Vasant Bendre Award, Nalini Pratap Kanvinde Award, Hari Om Trust Award, Vasudev Chintaman Waghmare Award, Sushila Award and Sukhvarsha Roy Award.
A versatile vocalist and composer, he is equally adept in semi-classical forms as well as Light Music including popular Hindi and Bengali songs.
Roy imparts training in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, New Delhi.
