‘Weekend Spirit’ with MIB
Providing a platform for busy urbanites to relax, enjoy and connect with their roots, MIB seasonal meetups have won the hearts of many Dhakaites. If you have been one of those enthusiasts who had been eagerly waiting for the next seasonal meetup where you could finally meet your favourite online stores, then good news! With their new initiative, the Weekend Spirit is now going to rock your weekends too!
"The goal of MIB Spirit has always been to promote sustainable living practices and we are constantly trying to find new ways to spread the message," explained Foysal Islam, Design and Media Communicator.
"When it comes to cultural activities or events in general, we felt Dhanmondi was falling behind. Most activities are now centred around Gulshan and Banani. Often, there isn't much to do around Dhanmondi during weekends and we have a warm, cosy space here left unused. So, we figured, why waste the opportunity?" he added.
Staying true to their motto, Weekend Spirit revolves around green living, minimalist sustainable practices and strengthening community spirit. Arranged every Friday on the comfy space of MIB Studio in Dhanmondi, the initiative is surely going to bring a refreshing change into the audience's lives by creating a platform where nature, art, and imagination collides.
So far, they have been able to bring in local brands working ethically on eco-friendly products. With unique products, each of the brands have had a humble start, which is bound to captivate you. However, the initiative is hardly going to stay just product-based. So, keep an eye out for live concerts and yoga classes that are soon to join this celebration!
Bringing in the traditions of Khagrachhari and Rangamati, Dakpeon consists of bright cushion covers, scarves and so on. The vibrant colours would surely brighten your wardrobe. However, if you really want to add a bold pop of colours to your room, try the show-pieces from Biskut Factory.
Artsy, with just the right level of hipster, these hand-painted pieces are inspired by rickshaw art techniques. If show-pieces are too bold for you, how about sunglasses or phone cases? Those with a love for notebooks should surely check out Nokta. With elaborate detailed planners costing between Tk 320 and Tk 480 and chic notebooks for Tk 60, you are bound to find something you like.
Sustainable living is incomplete without a touch of green. Whether it is to add a bit of nature into your homes, or organic food or even organic skincare, Weekend Spirit has it all. Pro Planters are a small group with simplistic home decor plants to liven up your living rooms. For the best organic products, you have the Neo Farmers and a project from BARI (Bangladesh Agricultural Research Centre).
Neo Farmers is not only dedicated to serving quality organic ingredients, but also holding stock of rare ingredients such as moringa powder that were once etched into the traditional Bengali cuisine. The initiative from BARI is to promote organic farming and their range of healthy organic vegetables are perfect for those aiming to get their weekend grocery shopping done.
If you are tired of the face packs with a gazillion chemicals that are doing more harm to your skin than good, why not try something organic?
Sarin's has a range of skincare products for all skin types. From hair oils, essential oils to face packs and scrubs, these are ideal for all ages. The best part, you do not have to worry about allergic reactions!
So, if you are trying to bring positive changes in your lives and you are free this weekend, why not drop by?
